Black & Blue
Home Sweet Home
I have always loved art. As a child and young adult growing up in Ohio, I enjoyed drawing and painting. After moving to the D.C. area, I took a variety of classes at community art centers, including figure drawing, design, and pottery. Not until I began working in watercolor in 2008 did I discover my preferred medium.
Since then, I have studied under different teachers at The Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia, where I live. The bulk of my work focuses on the natural world, ranging from floral close-ups to more traditional landscapes. I have also painted a number of house portraits as gifts and on commission. I enjoy experimenting with various palettes and styles, and I love painting outside in plein air.
In 2021, my family purchased a cabin in Calvert County, where we spend time in the summer and on occasional weekends. I find inspiration in the scenery around the Chesapeake Bay and have amassed a large collection of “painting prospect” photographs that far surpass my time to ever complete them all.
